Immer wieder schön zu sehen, welch bleibenden Eindruck unser Besuch vor Jahren in den Niederlanden gemacht hat. Aufpassen, dass Deine Frau nicht plötzlich ihre Einstellung gegenüber dem Giessen ändert, wenn Du ihr die ganze Wohnung ausräumst.

Yeah, that's my equipment, though that's about 4 years ago. My crucibles, furnace and tuyeres have changed somewhat since then (larger crucibles, smaller furnace). I really should update those photos, as those are from my very first casting day!

I am experimenting with different furnaces as well though, like the Egyptian style furnace. That furnace works great in melting lots of copper, 3kg on the first attempt as well as the crucible. So I still have to make crucibles that will survive in it

Well, with two sticks, one below and one over the top. But that's not as easy as it may seem. I've already done a testrun with the furnace. Problems I encountered: crucible falling apart, sticks becoming weak as spagetti due to the heat, sticks not gripping onto the crucible, burning myself within 1 meter of the furnace due to the tremendous heat. Melting the metal was the easy part (3kg pure copper in one go). Now I have to work on being able to take it out of the furnace and cast it
Habe mal nachgemessen: der Rückenwulst würde ca 6 mm durchgängig, werde also etwas nacharbeiten.Mela hat geschrieben:Habe gerade mal einige Sicheln durchgemessen: der obere Grat, an der höchsten Stelle ist ca. 6 mm stark, unten am Ende der Zunge können es auch ca. 8 mm sein.

und nehmen die Tiegel ohne Hilfsmittel raus!). Wenn ich Jeroen jetzt richtig verstanden habe, klappt es mit zwei Stöcken leidlich, aber dafür funzt es mit dem Metallaufschmelzen so richtig gut (3 Kilo am Stück).
